We hate to say it

But Verb Noire needs to raise some cash to defray the expenses of WorldCon. We thought we could bridge the gap out of pocket, but money is tight and my kid's face is expensive. So, we're hoping book sales, merch sales, and anything else you guys want to suggest can make up the difference. We're already putting together the second book (an anthology of short stories) and I was vaguely contemplating some sort of naming contest, but if that's not what gets you excited then please suggest something. We really want to be there, but finding the money for attendance and such is putting a hurt on ye olde pocketbook.

T-shirts? T-shirts generally sell well so long as you can do women's sizes, especially women's larger sizes... and the graphic you already have would look well on a black shirt/hoodie (black I also find sells well; looks good on just about everyone).

I can also suggest a cheap place to stay in Montreal that's handy to the con if that would be any use to you; we're staying at the hostel. It's a short trip to the con and that's worked really well for us before for Worldcons. Cuts your lodgings to about 200 for the week instead of damned near that per night.

Arrgh I knew there was something I needed to be doing: LJ post about con-or-bust!

Carl Brandon has agreed to take over administration of the con-or-bust financial end so it will continue, and the excess $ has been set aside for that purpose (or it will if I have finally managed to (a) write the check properly and (b) write the envelope properly).

I am also e-mailing your partner about something else so will take this conversation there?

You say you're working on an anthology of short stories at the moment - how about giving people the option to pre-order it? As an added incentive, anyone who pays for it before or at WorldCon gets added to a subscribers / supporters page at the end of the book once it's ready.
